CME & Workshop on Fundamentals of Critical Care

Objective
The objective of this programme is to enable doctors, nurses and technical personnel to have a grasp of the basics of critical care that will equip them to manage patients and problems on their own. The course contents have been designed to allow interactive sessions as well as hands on training. Separate sessions will be organised for medical, nursing as well as technical personnel

Topics that will be covered include:
Basic and advanced life support
Airway management
Ventilation, including noninvasive ventilation
Sepsis
Pain and sedation
Paediatric ICU problems
ABG, ECG and X ray interpretation
Transport of the critically ill patient
Trouble shooting ventilators
Vascular access
Ethics
Communication

National Nursing Conference on AIDS

SCIENTIFIC PROGRAMME
Will include the key note address, plenary lectures, role play and poster presentations. The programme will address key areas of nursing relevance in the care of patients with HIV/AIDS as outlined below:

Prevention & control of HIV infection
Clinical Management: ART and Opportunistic infection
Nursing management of people living with HIV/AIDS

Stigma and discrimination

Leadership activities

CALL FOR ABSTRACT
Abstracts should be submitted via e-mail to the Organisizing Secretary (conference email will be given)
Abstract Guidelines and Submission
All abstracts must be submitted following the guidelines given below by 31 October, 2008.

Guidelines for submission
Abstracts must be original and written in English
Maximum length of abstract is 500 words (single spaced)
Accepted file format is - Microsoft Word
All abstracts must be prepared in Times new Roman 12 point type only
Title should appear in BOLD CAPITALS at the top of the abstract
Authors should be listed with their affiliations directly below the title
Name of the Principal author to appear first.
Name of the author presenting the paper to be underlined
Leave one line between paragraphs
Abbreviations must be spelt out in full at the first mention followed by the abbreviations in parentheses
Preferred type of presentation (Oral / Poster) to be indicated at the time of submission
AV Aid required for presentation must be specified at the time of submission
The poster size should be 4’x3’.(Both research and non-research posters are invited)

Abstract Submission Information
By submitting an abstract all authors agree to release the license to the Conference Secretariat and give permission to them to publish the abstract in the conference Souvenir.• By submitting an abstract for consideration, the presenting author must also intend to register for the conference.
